Non-Compliance of MOB Devices with the New AIS Class-M Regulation (IEC 63269)

Switch now to a standard AIS MOB Class M!
### Non-Compliance of MOB Devices with the New AIS Class-M Regulation (IEC 63269)###
All MOB devices that are not capable of receiving DSC acknowledgment messages are categorically “non-compliant” with the regulations as of January 1, 2025. Only AIS MOB devices that meet the new ECC decision and its strict requirements, including the ability to receive DSC acknowledgment, and are certified to do so, are permitted for sale.
Use of non-standard equipment partially prohibited
In Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Slovakia, and Moldova, the use of previously compliant units is now strictly prohibited.
This critical regulation must be acknowledged and acted upon immediately.
In other countries, including Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, a formal ban on the usage of non-compliant devices has not yet been enacted. However, it is anticipated that these nations will soon adopt the new regulations, rendering the continued use of such devices illegal.
The Netherlands stands as an exception, currently applying a “Grandfather” clause that temporarily permits the use of existing products. However, this is likely a provisional measure and could be revoked.
AIS Class M standard so far only in Europe
As the AIS Class-M standard (IEC 63269) is currently a European mandate, the use of MOB1 devices remains allowed in the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
