Mobile AIS Aid to Navigation (AtoN) Transmitter Type 1
The easyMAtoN Type 1 is a mobile AIS transmitter used as a “navigation aid” to mark the location and identification of moving objects. By displaying the AIS signal on the chart plotters, this information is provided to nearby vessels.
The easyMAtoN Type 1 has a robust IP67 housing and is housed in a special floating box. The device is capable of creating “real” electronic navigation marks that appear on AIS-enabled electronic chart plotters or navigation PC software.
The easyMAtoN Type 1 is designed for mobile use in the maritime sector.
Function
The easyMAtoN Type 1 operates in AIS FATDMA (Fixed Access Time Division Multiple Access) mode in a special time slot that must be reserved by an AIS base station.
The ship’s AIS system receives the information that this slot is occupied by the base station and does not transmit its AIS data within this slot. The easyMAtoN Type 1 is programmed in advance by the administrator using a programming socket and special programming software so that only this slot is used to transmit the position and identification of the marker on both AIS frequencies.
Within the range of the AIS base station in operation, a separate time slot must be reserved for each AtoN Type 1 in order to transmit in the AIS traffic and inform all ships entering and leaving.
To configure the easyMAtoN Type 1, the programing socket A124 (available as an accessory) must be connected to a PC or laptop with the programming software running using a USB cable. The easyMAtoN Type 1 is plugged into the programming socket. The socket can be used by an administration for more than one easyMAtoN Type 1 configuration.
