Function

The easyTRACK-AMRD is designed to support finding gears easily working as an AMRD-B device running on 160.9 MHz.

Since 1st January 2025, the usage of Standard AIS trackers for fishing gear that transmit on AIS frequencies is forbidden and fined. All trackers in use have to fulfill the regulation ITU-R M.2135 (02/2023), AMRD Standard valid in any national waters as well as in international waters.

The easyTRACK-AMRD is your compliant device to locate fishing gear finder and other objects in the sea by having the exact position on your navigation screen. It is designed to the latest European standards and certified as an AMRD class B (Autonomous Maritime Radio Device class B)

Attach the easyTRACK-AMRD to your fishing buoy and deploy your nets or fishing lines. The easyTRACK-AMRD transmits a position message on the frequency 160,9 MHz with 100mW transmission power, exactly to the conditions of the new ITU regulations.

As the message is not transmitted on the official AIS frequencies, a standard AIS receiver will not pick up the messages from the AMRD-B device. But with the new easyRX3-AMRD, you have one receiving channel set to 160,9 MHz and the messages from the deployed easyTRACK-AMRD are received and can be displayed on the chart plotter.

With the APP, the easyTRACK-AMRD can be parameterized via Bluetooth connectivity. You can give an individual name and also set the cycling time of the messaging which is decisive for the operation time of the easyTRACK-AMRD. With the time interval set to 3 minutes, the easyTRACK-AMRD will operate up to 7 days/168h.

The transmission power of the easyTRACK-AMRD is 100mW, according to the ITU standard. Due to the high quality of the transmission regarding modulation and frequnency stability, the transmission range is approx. 5 nautical miles, depending on the height of the receiving antenna (typical 5nm with 10m high receiving antenna).

What is needed?

What is required to operate the easyTRACK-AMRD

Each buoy which is to be tracked must be equipped with one easyTRACK-AMRD. The charging station with intelligent power management ensures smart charging for longest batterie lifespan possible. The object-related data is programmed into the device by the customer administrator via app and Bluetooth connection.

As a receiver, you need to have the Weatherdock AIS receiver easyRX3-AMRD which is tuned to the special customized VHF frequencies used for the marking and locating.

FAQ

You will find answers here!

To frequently asked questions.

What is the easyTRACK-AMRD and what is it used for?

The easyTRACK-AMRD is a compact AMRD-B tracker for locating floating objects. It is suitable, for example, for fishing equipment such as buoys, nets, and lines. The tracker transmits its position data on the dedicated frequency of 160.9 MHz, enabling reliable tracking on the navigation system.

What is the range of the easyTRACK-AMRD?

The typical transmission range is approximately 5 nautical miles. The actual achievable distance depends primarily on the height of the receiving antenna and local conditions. With a receiving antenna at a height of approximately 10 meters, a range of around 5 nautical miles is typical.

How long can the easyTRACK-AMRD be operated?

The operating time depends on the set transmission interval. With a transmission interval of 3 minutes, the tracker can operate for up to 7 days or 168 hours. The transmission interval can be individually configured via the app and thus adjusted to the desired operating time.

What is included in the easyTRACK-AMRD set and what do I need for tracking?

The set includes the easyTRACK-AMRD tracker, the charging station, the easyRX3-AMRD receiver, the app, and a holder. One easyTRACK-AMRD is required for each object to be tracked. The devices can be individually configured and, for example, given a name via the app and Bluetooth. The easyRX3-AMRD receives the position reports and displays the data on the connected navigation system.
