The DLR (German Aerospace Center) developed together with Weatherdock as industrial partner the new ship information system AIS-Plus.
The aim of the project was to create a complete picture of the harbor situation. In comparison to conventional AIS receivers, the position reports with AIS-Plus have greater reliability (50% more signals) and a longer range (95 km instead of 65 km).
In mid-November AIS-Plus was successfully tested in the port of Rotterdam and presented at the SME Conference 2018 in Berlin.

Our units easyRESCUE-PRO(BT) & easyONE-DSC-CL both have the posibility to transmit and call of DSC closed loop.
This is a adressed message for a closed user group which is directly transmitted to your DSC VHF radio – the mothership.
An open loop is an allships call. Here a call to all ships with a DSC VHF radio within range is made. This kind of alert message is only possible through our easyRESCUE-PRO(BT).
The transmission of a closed loop message is send immediately after activation into the ON mode of both units.
The advantage of both units is, that you add another MMSI numbers, up to eight in total, which then will be alertet by such an closed loop message.
The number itself could be easily programmed into the units.
(Only on our easyRESCUE-PRO(BT))
(Works on both devices)
Note for easyONE-DSC-CL: Activation into the programming mode takes a little bit longer. Press the TEST button as long until the bright red LED start to blink. Now the unit seems to be off but there is an internal timer which takes approx. 20-30 seconds for activating the programming mode. Please wait until the TEST LED is fully ON.
Units with service date 04/2025 and newer: On this units, the TEST LED is blinking within the 20-30 seconds waiting time. Please go ahead if the TEST LED is fully ON.

Note:
The MMSI consists of nine digits, please take care when filling in your number.
Of course you can fill in up to eight numbers in total. (see figure 4)
Two methods are available for transmitting the AIS data telegrams.
On the one hand, the CSTDMA (Carrier Sense Time-Division Multiple Access) method, which is used primarily for pleasure boating (Class B). The CSTDMA method uses carrier-sensing to defer transmissions until no other stations are transmitting. If a free slot is found, the transmission starts. Than the transmission is stopped for a 30 second time interval before the next one starts.
On the other hand, there is the SOTDMA (Self-Organized Time-Division Multiple Access) technology, which was used only by commercial vessels (Class A) but is now also authorized for pleasure boating at Class B level. With the SOTDMA method only the first free slot for the transmission has to be found. The next five slots are always reserved automatically.
The following hierarchy results for the transmission of AIS data telegrams:
The main advantages of the SOTDMA compared to the CSTDMA technology for pleasure boating (Class B) at a glace:
Small magnetic active patch GPS antenna with waterproof housing for mounting on dashboard, windshield or metallic surfaces.
Contents: Cleaning cloth, BNC-FME adapter, metal adhesive pad, mini GPS antenna

The new raspAIS from Weatherdock is equipped with a latest generation 2-channel-receiver for parallel and persistant reception of the two AIS frequencies.
The unit picks up all kind of AIS signals:
AIS Class A, AIS Class B, AIS SART, AIS MOB as well as AtoN signals will be received out of the vicinity.
A low power consumption management ensures that as less power as possible will be used running the system.
The collected data will be interpreted and forwarded to a connected mobile device for displaying on an electronic chart.
As the central basic component a Raspberry Pi® Modell 3B is doing a perfect job in the background. Due to the wide range of possible connectivity, received AIS data can be forwarded via WiFi or LAN connection.
With the received AIS data there are several ways to work with the raspAIS for display and navigation:
But the new raspAIS is even more than an AIS receiver. It can also be used as a multimedia center for videos and audio content. 4 USB slots keep enough space for USB storage additional connected to mouse and keyboard.
Like any AIS receiver, the easyRX-LAN receives the telegrams of the Class A and Class B transceivers. A novelty of the easyRX-LAN is the LAN module, which enables a direct connection to an existing computer network. Likewise, the recording of the NMEA data into the WWW can be realized without any detours.
What is necessary to connect an easyRX LAN?
First, there must be a working computer network. In addition to a 12 volt DC power supply you need a standard LAN cable RJ45 and an VHF antenna.
Which PC software is the easyRX-LAN suitable for?
Any PC software that can process and display AIS data is suitable to be used with the easyRX LAN.
To configure the easRX-LAN, a PC is required. (at least WIN XP or higher)

In early August the well known German YACHT magazine worked out a huge test event at the Baltic sea. The goal was to find out which AIS MOB device is the best on the market available.
With very successful 88 from 100 possible points the AIS MOB easyONE from German Weatherdock AG gets the TOP grade of this challenge.
The big advantages of the easyONE which bring it on TOP of the list are,
• palm-sized
• self-floating in upright position
• without buoyancy aid
• usage with every automatic life jacket
• highest transmission range
• full stand alone functionality with automatic activation
• long battery lifetime of more than 24 hours
AIS MOB emergency transmitter can make the difference between saving or losing a life at sea. The current GPS position of the victim will be updated every minute and broadcasted to every AIS receiver system in the vicinity of up to 10 nautical miles and more. The transmitted data also include course and speed over ground of the victim in the current.
Weatherdock AG is proud to be the winner of this competition in front of other manufactures and we take this first place as an incentive to keep on working hard to realize the best products possible.
